Nan Rumpf grew up in a small Iowa town on the banks
of the Mississippi River, where she spent much of her childhood exploring the outdoors
and daydreaming. She currently lives in Wellesley Massachusetts.
She worked as a professional puppeteer, designing and constructing her own puppets
and masks. She runs dramatic arts workshops in public schools and libraries. With
Nan acting as art instructor, director, narrator, sound effects expert and musician;
children use their artwork to dramatize a story. She wrote and illustrated the book
Puppets and Masks: Stagecraft and Storytelling published by Davis Publications,
1996. She teaches art classes and has had several paintings commissioned.
She has studied watercolor painting with Susan Swinand, Lois Smiley, Jane Goldman,
Paul George, Charles Reid, Miles Batt, and Cheng Khee Chee.

- New England Watercolor Society Show in Cotuit (Woodruff Art Center Award)
She is a member of the Concord Art Association,
the Wellesley Society of Artists,
the Needham Art Association, and is associated
with the New England Watercolor Society.
She teaches drawing, painting, and monotype printing to children and adults.
