Artist Statement
The most captivating part of painting for me is the process. I like to see how watercolors and other watermedia react to different painting surfaces. Does the surface affect the edges...the flow...the puddling properties of the paint? Experimenting with different methods to obtain accidental texture also appeals to me. The results of these experiments give me something to respond to and motivate me to continue experimenting with shape, value, and composition as I develop each painting. I am attempting to capture the essence of forms from my observations, memories, and imaginings.
